Leah Sandals is a
professional writer and editor based in Toronto, Canada. Currently, she is
Online Editor at Canadian Art, the nationÕs most widely read art magazine. She freelanced
in various forms from 1999 to 2012, but is no longer freelancing at this time.
LeahÕs main specialty is
art writing and criticism, instances of which have appeared in periodicals
including the Art Newspaper, Flash
Art, Sculpture, Border Crossings and C Magazine. Her work has also been published in several
newspapers, including the National Post—where she filed regular artist interviews from 2007 to
2011—the Globe and Mail,
the Toronto Star and the Halifax
Chronicle-Herald.
Editorially, Leah has
worked at all levels of the process, from substantive and assignment editing to
copyediting and proofreading. Book manuscripts, brochure layouts, newspaper
articles, magazine proofs and web-only texts have all fallen under her purview.
Clients have included the Canada Millennium Scholarship Foundation, Spacing
Magazine, the Ontario College of
Art and Design and YYZ Books, among other organizations.
Leah Sandals holds a BFA
in Media Arts from NSCAD University and a BSc in Physical Geography from McGill
University. She has also taken editing and writing courses at Ryerson
UniversityÕs Chang School of Continuing Education.
